I’m sure that the answer to this question is what every business owner would love to know! Well, I’m no marketing guru and not even the best when it comes to online marketing, still I know enough that I can still try and answer this question when it comes to online marketing and that too without ads.
While running Blog Design Studio, I try to ensure that I don’t spend even a single dollar for ads and that instead of me reaching to them, they should be able to reach to me. And as Mike Volpe says that blogging is inbound marketing! The moment I heard this expression, I fell in love with it and there is a reason for that! Blogging acts as inbound marketing because it helps you in getting the customers on it’s own! There are billions of people out there and millions are your businesses potential clients – the question to be asked from yourself is that have you created ways for them to reach to you or not and if you have then how can you do it without investing much or even if you do then it’s return on investment will continue for years to come ?
1. Customers are smart – These days customers are smart enough to know that what exactly they want and they can easily find out that where exactly they should give their business by doing simple searches on the internet. So, the simple fact is, if you are not on search engines then you are losing potential customers.
2. Search engines send targeted traffic – Why do you think that most of the people try to optimize their websites for certain keywords ? Because they know that the traffic coming from search engine is always relevant. Lets take an example – Lets assume that you were searching on the internet that how to improve your business with blogs and you landed on this blog and read my articles and then you saw an ad in the right hand sidebar, where I suggest that you should buy a book written by me(in my dreams – but still, it’s just an example) on blogging for business, then what will be the chances of you buying that book ? I will rather leave it on you to think ahead about this point!
3. Word of mouth works – I’ve seen people do it, I’ve done it myself and you have done that too! Recommendations work and on the internet, it works even better. If you can be easily approached by your customers and they get excellent care and service, then I’m sure they will recommend you more than anyone else. However, if you don’t have a website, good contact information and if you don’t appear approachable from your website, then what is the other thing which will make people talk about you? I don’t think there is any ? In this tough and stiff competition you have only few points to score better than your competition, so don’t lose that chance either.
Well, the point is that Blogging acts as a great way of communication tool, interaction tool and drives the customers to you and that too without wasting too many marketing dollars. So, if you have not started a blog yet, then you should definitely start one.
