We all blog and compare the stats of our blogs with all those successful blogs which proudly flaunt that they have over 10,000 readers and get so much page views. Well, I can certainly believe the power of page-views, although most of them say that pageviews is something which isn’t the real stat of any website these days, it’s the subscriber base which is the real stat and should be focused on.

However, what’s the point of believing in those stats which can be faked pretty easily too. I remember that John Chow asked his existing subscribers to subscribe to his email newsletter (which will eventually reflect the same people again), so that they can win some book or some other prize.

I agree that all those successful blogs have a wide reach however, some where down the line when I see those stats, I just can’t relate to them at all.

Well, when you are just a reader or fan those stats won’t hurt you in anyway, however when you place yourself as an advertiser then will you be able to justify the amount of money they charge you for those fake stats ? I know this is way more debatable then simply writing if you believe those stats or not, however I would still love to leave it on to you, that will you ever advertise on those blogs even though you know that the stats are not true!

  1. That’s a tough one. Reading the stats makes our mouths water, but it seems so hard to get going initially with a new blog. I think that’s why I still like PPC ads because they fairly scale with true readership.
