When, I was blogging on ReviewSaurus and got PR 2, PR 6, PR 5, PR 3 (I remember all of them in perfect order); I used to jump with joy, I used to enjoy when PageRank used to go up and vice versa! Anyway, it’s been couple of months since we launched Blog Design Studio and I feel really good as today it’s became PageRank 4 blog.

What is PageRank ?

Every now and then you’ll notice that many bloggers or webmasters will get up and chime in chorus that their PR improved or got low. PageRank is Google’s trademarks and the technology which ranks the webpages and accordingly makes adjustment in the search results.

If your blog is PageRank 5 and any other blog is PageRank 3 then your blog will be crawled much faster and the chances are that it will rank better in the search results. You can say that it’s a way of Google to judge that which website has more authority and which provides more quality content.

How can one increase the PageRank ?

Now that PageRank holds so much importance, the question is that how can one increase the PageRank ? The answer to that is Linkbacks! If you get lot of linkbacks then Google will understand that your blog is a quality blog and that people like the content, so it will be an authority blog/website.

However, there is a catch to it. If your blog gets few linkbacks from those websites/blogs which have got higher PageRank and there is another blog/website which gets more linkbacks from low ranking blogs/websites then also you’ll be given more preference.

How can I build linkbacks ?

There are lot of ways of building the links and one of the famous one is through social bookmarking websites. Apart from that there is lot of wonderful content available on the internet and here are some of the most interesting articles which will help you in understanding that how can you gain quality linkbacks.

3. 15 Link building tips for new websites.

Apart from this 10 Free simple back-link building tips is a must read too.

Many people have said that PageRank is dead because of various steps which Google took sometime back, in order to avoid link selling and remove spam from the search results. Although, I still believe that PageRank is one of the good ways of judging if the blog/website is good or not. What’s your take on the PageRank ?

  8. I don’t care a lot.. because i look after SERPs which is not decided by Page rank.

  10. Congratz on the PR4.
I personally think that PR while it does have its flaws is still important. One of my blogs has a PR of 2, and some of my other websites have PR1 or PR3. Some fell in PR, but this was still a good update for me. My goal now if for my newest blog which is not yet ranked to be at PR2 next update

  14. yes PR doesnt matter much then serp’s …

traffic is the thing which a webmaster or a site owner looks for … a normal individual doesnt know wats pagerank ( PR ) is … they just come to chill out or get some useful info from a informative site or any other…

but still PR matters a bit for the webmaster for sure .. as it shows the ranking of our site in Google eyes

  18. When page rank updates are made there seems to be little change in SERP's. At the end of the day it is just a good way of measuring the authority of a page

  20. Yeah that pretty true. Although, lately there has been very less influence of page rank and there are other factors that have gained more weight.

  22. I've witnessed some examples where pages with no PageRank are in the top 1 or 2 positions on Google for somewhat competitive terms. I've also witnessed new pages that rank well in the SERPs almost immediately when they're on sites with established PR. It leads me to believe that the PR has a strong influence over the speed and quality at which the page will rank but it is clearly not the lone measure.

  24. Indeed, even I've seen so and the biggest reason for the same is the authority of that domain and the on-site optimization of that particular page that ranks well for certain keywords,
