When I took the decision to go as a full time blogger, I had done enough research and built a blog which was giving me enough to sustain myself, however it wasn’t good enough that I could live a good enough life. However, the time which I got for myself was good enough to put my hands into other things and that’s how I was able to find right partner to work with and could start Blog Design Studio. Although, apart from that I act as a freelance writer too and a good majority of my income comes from that and apart from that it helps me in many other ways and not just me, I would love to give example of other bloggers have done tremendously well and gained lots of exposure while writing for other blogs! However, before that I would love to give you the reasons why one should go ahead and write for other blogs -

1. You find loyal readers – When you write on other established blogs, what you really are doing is that you are taking off the pain of marketing that blog from your head and while you are writing for them, you are building your name in front of those readers whom the blog owner has been trying to get hold off and when you write well, you’ll see that those readers will follow you even if you start writing some where else.

2. You get paid for your work – One good thing about blogging is that once your blog starts to get traffic from search engine, you continue to enjoy a good income for long time and that too even though you stop blogging on that blog (some thing which I’m enjoying these days), however building a blog to reach to that level is something which takes lot of time. However, if you really want to make some good bucks and want quick money then doing freelance writing is again a wonderful choice.

3. Your profile improves a lot – If you are good with some stuff and write well then you’ll be able to build a name and reputation for yourself in much better way as compared to starting fresh with a blog. Although, David Peralty doesn’t think this way completely however, I’m sure that he’ll also agree that he must have found many readers who used to follow his blog posts from the blog’s where he starting blogging first.

Which other bloggers have done well, while writing for established blogs ?

1. Shankar Ganesh – This young chap maintains his own blog called Killer Tech Tips and used to write for MakeUseOf.com (I think they need a redesign now :P).

2. David Peralty – He currently blogs regularly at eXtra For Every Publisher and before that has blogged on many famous blogs, which you can find out from his own about me page.

3. Jeff Chandler – Well, I love this guy and his passion about WordPress! He blogs at Jeffro 2 point 0 (his own blog) and at very famous and useful Weblog Tools Collection.

4. Praval Singh – He’s my buddy and an awesome writer. His profile is located here and currently freelances for Profit Blogger & Brajeshwar.

5. Abhijeet Mukherjee – My buddy and one to take inspiration from. He maintains his own blog which he calls Jeet blogand is doing a wonderful job as a freelancer at Dumb Little Man and other blogs.

Well, these are some of the examples of some good bloggers and I’m sure there will be many others who have taken the same path and have done well (I apologize in case I know you and forgot to mention your name here).

Well, I take freelance blog writing as paid guest blogging and there is no harm in getting paid for something which many bloggers do just to market themselves and I think that it’s a wonderful way of making name and money and will suggest any of you to start blogging for others as a freelancer!

  1. Thanks for the mention bro ! :-)

Certainly, blogging on other established blogs is a great way to gain exposure and a good opportunity to network with established players in this industry.

  2. I’ve always had the fuel in my mind and this proves to be the spark :)

  3. Thanks for the links, I will them out.
You all rock in my book

  4. Great round up of reasons as to why one might want to look into freelance writing for other blogs/people. The great thing is, I can maintain my own blog while writing for the other ones. Freelancing and guest blog posting is like stepping stones. You start out with your own blog to build a base, then you apply for jobs on slightly bigger blogs (higher profile) then you move up and up and up and eventually, take care of yourself through freelance income while at the same time, enjoying a nice wide ranging audience while enjoying a following that increases as you become more successful.

Again, thanks for the kind words and I’ll try to document how I’m doing and what I’m doing on my personal site.

  5. Can I know how do you write for other established blog? You mean you become one of the authors of those blog? what I was thinking is that you write your contents on other people’s blog and I wonder how are you doing that. Correct me if I am wrong..

  6. @Hostgator review – Well, normally the ideal way should be that you should write some few free guest posts for them to ensure that they like your writing style. This way they’ll have confidence on you and will be able to assess if their readers are liking your contest. Once they will find your posts valuable, I’m sure they’ll be ready to pay you for the same content which you gave for free at first.

  7. "This is the greatest post I have come across so far.I am really pleased to post my comment on this blog .I love your blog by the way, I am gonna have to add you to my list of watched blogs .Thank you for this very useful information. stored it.Thanks again and keep up the good work."
