Steps 1 & 2 were completed, but in Step 3 my browser shows a 404 error with when trying to connect to http://localhost:8888/wp-admin/install.php.However, if I try to access http://localhost:8889/wp-admin/install.php, Firefox asks me what I want to do with file install.php. I can open it with an external app or save it, but I cannot see it.I've tried editing wp-config.php to this: /** MySQL hostname */ define('DB_HOST', 'localhost:8889');but no dice. I guess if you'll give the IP address of your computer to the other network members then they will be able to see the wordpress in that local network.
