I like IntenseDebate a lot as it helps me a lot in making replies from the dashboard, block spam and a whole lot that one can reap the benefits out of this yet another Automattic company. Although, IntenseDebate is in beta phase and often gives slight errors, however still it is a wonderful tool that we can rely on and should continue to use it. However, there is one glitch due to which you may face problem in the theme. Generally, its the sidebar of your theme that will go below the comments section (provided you’ve used the standard blog page structure).
So the question is that what’s the solution for the same. There are few solutions and its up to you that which one you would like to follow -
1. Join Disqus – Not sure if they also face the same problem or not. However, I haven’t seen anyone making complaints about the same. Disqus is another service like IntenseDebate and has attracted prolific bloggers like Jim Kukral already, however I’m not sure that why Jim choose to shift to IntenseDebate.
2. Use standard blog comment file – Oliver (our lead theme developer) found out that how IntenseDebate works normally once we are using a blog comment file that is without any custom design elements around it. If you choose to use default blog comments file then you’ll not face any issues with intensedebate.
3. Using custom design elements – You can always use the option provided by IntenseDebate that allows you to use custom design elements. In order to achieve the same, you just need to go in the settings of that particular blog in IntenseDebate’s dashboard. Just go to the layout section and at the bottom you’ll find the option to upload custom CSS.
I hope that you’ll continue to use IntenseDebate, as this indeed is a wonderful service. It has its own drawbacks, however those will be ironed out for sure as this service is part of Automattic and they’ve already given wonderful softwares and services that we all are proud of.

yeah. that sucks.

is my writeup i did a while back.
Well I can tell you at the moment I have put Intense Debate on Ice, I have had nothing but trouble since i installed it. I get plagued by spam and trying to sync up the wp comments data with I.D proved to be too much, my blog was very slow to load, the comments would take days to appear in I.D. In fact I even lost 2 or 3 comments and the spam sync was just as bad, also CommentLuv doesn’t work with I.Debate. I tried practically every tweak that I could find in the settings at I.Debate , but nothing worked
I have therefore gone back to my old setup for the moment, I think i will wait until they get a more stable version out.
Hey Bill, it definitely seems like that intensedebate is facing few issues like slowness and css issues. It sometimes also gives the problem while moderating the comments. However, I'm positive that it'll be one of the most used service on the internet as the amount of features it offers are really awesome
wow! that's a nice write up man. I was not sure that there were many other services apart from disqus and intensedebate.
Hi Mayank, oh yeh it will be the bees kneez once they iron out the kinks, I will reactivate the plugin then:)
I think its best to use stock wordpress contact forms.
I would prefer Disqus
Even I thought that Disqus will do well, however it failed to impress me and I decided to get rid of it too. I’m back at the normal comments of WordPress engine.
