We’ve already discussed that photos can be really helpful in making your post look presentable. However, they can do a lot better if the photos or images itself look better and in order to achieve that one should make use of various image effects and in this post we’ll discuss that how you can give various effects to the photos.

There are various programs which help you in adding effects to the images in a snap and don’t waste your time. Those programs are blessings for those people who can’t afford Adobe Photoshop or get nightmares when it comes to use complex graphics editing softwares like Photoshop, Gimp etc.

IrfanView : A light weight and free image viewing software, which also allows you to add various effects in the images, although you need various filters for that. With the help of plugins you’ll be able to use various photoshop filters as well.

Windows Live Writer : One of the finest gems from the Microsoft factory. It’s a desktop blogging client which allows you to publish blog posts on your wordpress blogs pretty easily. It supports many blogging platforms and allows you to add simple image effects. Although the list of image effects isn’t huge but are decent enough that they make the images look better.

SnagIT : The best screenshot taking utility ever built for Windows. It’s got an in-built image editor which is far too easy and helps you apply decent amount of image effects as well. Although, it comes with a price tag but you won’t repent ever even for a single penny which you’ll invest on this software.

Picasa : It’s a free photo organizer software from Google and helps you put various photo effects on images and the best part is that it follows the Google philosophy and that is keep things free. Yes! it’s the best photo organizing software and free too.

Paint.Net : It’s one of the simple but powerful image editing software and has got lots of image effects filters which help you easily add various effects in one simple click. You won’t really look at photoshop if you want to do basic image editing.

These programs are the best of the lot and maximum are free and there is one thing I can say about these programs is that you should have them installed on your windows anyway as they are not exclusive for applying image effects but are far more useful in other ways.

  1. Good post with lots of great free picture editing sites. Google’s Picasa has a lot of great images; I use it a lot. The blog looks great, by the way.
