WordPress is without a doubt the best blogging software ever built, however I still don’t prefer to make my blog posts from the integrated editor and there quite a few reasons for that (go through the post and you’ll know why). I prefer to blog from desktop blogging clients like Windows Live Writer (while using Windows) or Ecto (while using OS X) and I suggest every blogger to use either of the software while making the posts and here are the reasons :
1. You get automatic backup : Everyone fears that in a hosted blog the biggest problem is that if the blog gets hacked or the data gets lost because of some mishap then how will one come out of such a situation. The fear of losing out those hundreds of posts gives shivers at even 40 degree celsius (that’s the temperature outside in delhi right now). However, if you make posts from the blogging clients then they get saved in your computer’s hard disk and thus can act as saviour at the time of some mishap.
2. Offline editing is fast : Not everyone can stay online for 24 hrs. and if some blog post idea goes through your mind then you won’t think of going to a cafe and do the work or just fire up the notepad and then do the hard work of editing it, after you’ve written the post. I prefer writing it on WLW or Ecto and do the editing and formating it and simply pressing the publish button. What sounds simpler to you ?
3. Uploads the files/images : Another benefit of using the blogging editors is that they upload the images/files on the fly. So you don’t need to upload the file using any FTP manager and then copying there address to insert them in the blog editor of the wordpress. Just include the file in the blogging client and it will automatically upload it for you and manage the links.
4. Spell checker, Browser Crashes : There are various small other small but useful functions and they are spell check, saves your life in case you are writing a post and the browser decides to crash!
I’m sure these reasons will be good enough for anyone to believe that it’s good to use desktop blogging clients. So go ahead and download any of the blogging client and start making blog posts right away.

The idea is good there Mayank. But you can have a plugin to take automatic back up and use firefox which has spell check.
