    Hey Guys,

Our first review of the blog review series is live and I hope that it will help everyone. Feel free to check the blog review and now lets discuss that what all other points can be added and so it will help scatterbrain in improving the blog as much as possible.

If you also want to get your blog reviewed like this then all you need to do is be active on forum and that's it :)

  2. I've noted all the improvements that you kindly recommended Mayank. Thanks for reviewing my blog. I'd like to respond to a couple of points:-

Upgrade WordPress Version - I'm eager to do this. My blog is hosted by my brother-in-laws (for free) server which runs on the Debian operating system that uses *packages* to install and upgrade software. My version (2.0.12-alpha) is the latest Debian-Stable package - and I know it is very old. Obviously, I'm looking at alternative UK hosting servers and hope to upgrade very soon.

Pretty Permalinks When I tried to customise my Permalinks, I sent the plugin (htaccess file) to the wrong folder and crashed my site. (My nickname is Scatterbrain for a reason)

As mentioned, I'm going on an Adobe Dreamweaver course on 27th September - so I should be able to make a start the improvements after that.

The same goes for Enlarging Text Size.

As for the rest of the points - I'm ignorant about them all,:???: but will endeavour to learn about them and ensure I get all the relevant plugins.

Your review has given me the necessary impetus (read kick up the backside) I needed to start me optimising my site.

  3. I think that All-In-One SEO Pack will help you a lot on SEOing your blog. I also read Mayank's review and I also believe you need it.

    Good luck!

  4. Thanks, but first I need to change my server host - then upgrade my version of WordPress.

@Ikki - I'm glad that you guys are finding the review beneficial.

    @Scatterbrain -

Upgrade the wordpress version - You just need to upload the Wordpress automatic upgrade plugin (if at all you can do that) and it does the rest, you don't have to worry about anything.

Pretty permalinks - I'll suggest you to simply create another.htaccess (blank file) and then upload it and do that again :) Else you can also do one thing -> when you try generate the permalink and it fails to update the htaccess file, it gives you the htaccess code, you paste that in a text file, name it htaccess.txt and upload it and then simply rename it to .htaccess :)

Enlarging text - Well, good luck with your course :)

Rest of the stuff - I'm sure once you'll go ahead with all the suggestions, you'll see amazing improvement in traffic (although, it will take it's time..don't expect anything over night).

  6. I sincerely appreciate all the advice guys - and I'm taking it all on board. Thanks.

I'm researching everything you mentioned, such as WordPress automatic upgrade and the All-In-One SEO Package.

I'll be starting on it next week - will update you as to how I get on.

I'm so glad I was one of the competition winners, this has made me all enthusiastic  about the technical side of my site again.
