Lancelhoff has written one excellent tutorial where he tells you that, how you want to change the admin username itself (not the display name). It’s a good practice as, changing the admin username is beneficial against security threats.

  2. Actually this is too complicated… Simple thing to do would be to do it from your wordpress dashboard.

    1) Create a new user with admin privleges.
    2) Delete admin user and wordpress will automatically ask u to re-assign posts to another author.

    Done!

  4. Dilip, I was unable to delete the original admin user after creating a new one with admin privileges.

    The lancelhoff tutorial worked great for me.
