WordPress is a great blogging platform, although because of certain poorly coded (yet useful) plugins/themes, it can put lot of load on the server when it comes to memory usage. Miriam has written an excellent post which gives you lot of ways through which you can optimize your WordPress blog and that will also increase the speed of the blog.
