While going through the upgrade of WordPress 2.6 to 2.7, I noticed that someone had linked to one of our article and when I followed the link, I came across this post that was titled “6 things you didn’t know wordpress could be“. I loved the article as it showed that how WordPress can be put under various uses even though it started off as blogging software and is primarily used as the same.
I’m planning to start an information website soon and for the first time I’m looking for a solution other than WordPress. It’s not that I’ve lost faith in the power of WordPress, it’s just that WordPress generates dynamic pages and I’m looking for a solution that will generate static content.
My friend Kyle has written an interesting article where he suggests that 5 plugins should be part of WordPress as default option. Well, I have to say that this is a wonderful thought because no CMS is perfect and WordPress as a CMS also needs to add features. The list which has been mentioned by Kyle is -

Apart from that it makes sense that one should upgrade WordPress ASAP because it helps you in keeping the security breach’s away and makes your blog more secure.
Sometime back, I’d written a post that how can one utilize WordPress template system and customize a 404 error page and ensure that the visitors will be able stick to your blog even if they end up landing on 404 page. Here’s a quick and simple tip which will help in ensuring that in case a visitor lands up on 404 page, they’ll be presented with an HTML based Sitemap with all the articles listed with categories.

Around 30 odd hours before, I did the best thing for my blog. I installed IntenseDebate WordPress plugin on my blog. Although, this takes away the beautiful comment form (for which we’ve been featured as well) still it was worth putting the plugin as it gives various other features which make my life simple. In another news, IntenseDebate became available for everyone.
