Marketing blogs isn’t simple and takes hell lot of hard work and commitment to make sure that the blog can make impact and that it reaches the top heights and gets the fame it deserves. That leads to coming up with various new marketing ideas as innovative marketing ideas always work. With this, we also learn the art of experimentation that in itself helps a lot in future blog ventures.
At WordCamp India 2009, I met with lots of people and many of them did something unique that was setting them apart from the crowd. In the last post about WordCamp India, you would have noticed the Tattoo guy – Ankur Banerjee (who conducted a very cool quiz too). I also met with team technospot i.e. Ashish Mohta and Manav Mishra, they were wearing Technospot.net branded t-shirts and same was the case of Ankit of Instablogs (who inspired me to order a hoodie with Blog Design Studio logo on it).
All these examples on the top were of branding, where Ankur managed to brand himself as “the tatoo guy” and was easily able to draw Matt’s attention and then the team “technospot” & “instablogs” were good enough to draw people’s attention towards their work.
We all love brands and that is evident from not just by wearing Guccies, Omegas also by wearing brand logos on t-shirts, mugs, stickers and various merchandizes. Building brand is not simple and its one way of showing that we love the efforts that the guys have put in building that brand. I always wanted to wear a WordPress hoodie or t-shirt, however it wasn’t making sense to me that I buy a hoodie for 23 GBP from WordPress store, when it shouldn’t cost more than $ 12 in India itself. So, here’s what I did -

It took us some time and efforts to organize the event and it just feels great to see that our efforts were appreciated by the whole community. It definitely felt nice that so many people joined and participated in the event in one way or the other and first time, it felt like that the WordPress community in India is also strong. We topped the list of Top Trends with #wci tag and that was definitely an achievement on its own and it was once competing strongly with #oscars.
WordCamp India 2009 is just 2 days away. Today, I had a great opportunity to meet Om Malik and Matt Mullenweg. I have to say that both the guys are pretty cool. Om shared his memories of India and was completely amazed at the amount of changes Delhi has seen all these years and Matt on the other hand was trying to pull Om’s leg. No wonder! They are good friends. We all know that how Matt loves photography and the moment me and Sameer entered the room, we were greeted with three quick pic shots.
As you all know that I’m one of the co-organizer of the WordCamp and that Matt is joining us for THE DAY! And if I remember correctly, I did mention about the surprise guest as well. The surprise guest none other than but Mr. Om Malik!
Adobe India and Automattic have graciously decided to sponsor WordCamp India for us. It was getting pretty hectic for us to arrange the sponsorship and then one fine day we got the good news that Adobe India is ready to sponsor the event and that they’ll be giving us the space and food for the attendees. Automattic has been pretty supportive for the whole event and have agreed to sponsor the event partially.
