I use Sublime Text 2 (technically not free, though it has an unlimited and unrestricted trial, so it is effectively so) with the WordPress API package, which provides WordPress suggestion. It works very well, and ST2 is astoundingly beautiful and useful. Before that, I used mostly NetBeans – another excellent piece of software – which is completely free.

I have just bough Codelobster PHP Edition and I am happy. It works very stable. May be there was some problems with more early versions. It has great theme editor and interface at all. I highly recommend it for everyone.

I code for a living and use Dreamweaver. Recently tried Coda for Mac but it’s not as good IMO.

seems you need check Komodo, it can include wordpress folder for code hint :)

According to me through internet we can little bit solve our template design problem but for best we should hire someone or take some course. By the way thanks to sharing this post, i got some new tips here.

I had not even considered using an IDE for coding templates (other than apps like Coda). This might make me look in to Dreamweaver. Heck, your post actually made me want to do some coding again :)
