WordPress has been the best blogging software on this earth and the community of developers has embraced this master piece with both of their hands. That is the reason why it becomes easier for bloggers like us to build their blogs or complete websites on this platform. Although, as Jeff pointed out that many developers feel the pain of not getting the appreciation for the plugins they provide to the community for free and even provide the support for the same.

We are WordPress theme developers and have provided free themes (not as much as others have, although we plan to release many free themes in coming time) and we understand that how good it feels, when someone appreciates your work by either giving donation or if they just give some exposure to us by writing about our theme. I guess this week is my confession week and in this post, I would accept my fault of not saying thanks to the developers as much as I could have by writing about their wonderful work as often as I could have. After reading the post, I thought that it is a good reminder of saying thanks and fixing up my mistake, so here I would like to say thanks to all the developers who have contributed in this wonderful community in anyway!

And now some special thanks to these wonderful people whose plugins I’ve been using since long time -

Matt Mullenweg – Do I need to say anything about him? Thanks for giving us WordPress and lot more!

Michael Torbert – I would like to thank Michael for creating All-in-one-seo pack. I’m sure this plugin has made life simpler for the bloggers tremendously as not only it helps in taking care of the onsite SEO areas.

Oliver Seidel – Thanks to Oliver who created cforms plugin. I don’t think that there is any other plugin that will match this wonderful form plugin ever. This plugin powers both the forms that you see on this blog. It is so extensive in features that I used to wonder if I will be ever able to understand this plugin. No wonder that why Oliver (not the plugin developer but our lead designer/coder) has fallen in love with this plugin!

Alex Rabe – I guess Oliver (our designer) was absolutely right when he said that NextGEN Gallery plugin is a CMS in itself! Alex has created this master piece as it literally serves most of the purpose of any gallery requirement that you will have. At one stage bloggers found ways to integrate Gallery 2 (Gallery 3 beta is also out) with WordPress, however I’m sure that after this plugin, not many would like to go through the pain of integrating both these brilliant software.

Ozh – Another person for whom all the words of appreciation will be less for the amount of work that he has done for the WordPress community. You should check out his contribution in the area of WordPress over here and you’d know that why I said so in the first line!

Rob Marsh – Rob has made some of the most wonderful plugins for WordPress. Similar Posts is one of them and I’ve been using it on my blog since early days. I noticed that Rob hasn’t posted on his blog since long, I wonder if we all got late to thank him for all his efforts.

Peter Liebetrau – Peter came as saviour for all of those who were worried about the memory usage of Google XML Sitemap Generator plugin. He created Simple Google Sitemap plugin and after the release of this plugin, I immediately shifted to it. Not that I don’t like Google XML Sitemap Generator plugin by Arne Brachhold, it’s just that it was slightly heavier on the server and I wanted to free up the space. In fact, I would like to thank Arne for creating that wonderful plugin as it offers many more features that no other plugin offers. Thanks to both of you guys!

Austin Matzko – I would like to thank Austin for creating many wonderful plugins that you can download from here. I’m sure that your automatic backup plugin must have saved thousands of bloggers from any calamity!

Lester Chan – Thanks a million for creating so many plugins for WordPress. Not only it has made life simple for bloggers, many of your plugins help WordPress become a complete CMS! I’m sure that no CMS will be complete if it doesn’t have poll functionality.

Scott Allen – I’ve already covered WP-SpamFree plugin by Scott on this blog, however the amount of peace this plugin has given me is beyond my ability to explain it in words. It is by far my favorite plugin along with Akismet to fight the comment spam.

Antonio Perez – Inserting YouTube videos was always a pain, however with the help of Antonio’s plugin; it became super easy to include videos from YouTube but from MetaCafe too (there are some good videos on it too).

oli.jpgApart from that I would like to thank my friends Keith & Rajesh for developing WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin and Platinum SEO pack respectively.

In the end, I would like to thank my buddy – Oliver (our designer/coder for wordpress themes) for all your efforts in building Blog Design Studio! It wouldn’t have been possible without you at all!

I think this is the least minimum we all bloggers can do to encourage these wonderful developers for building a great community around WordPress and making it more and more usable with the help of their plugins and themes. Thanks once again to all of you!

  1. Caught this one on WP Tavern’s Twitter post and very much enjoyed reading it! I particularly love the plugins by Lester Chan and Alex Rabe :)

  2. Nice of you to say thanks to these people. I think there’s something to be said for a public thanks, versus a private one via email or something. Both are appreciated, I’m sure, but the public stuff is the kind of thing that will become contagious.

Good work starting what I hope will be a number of bloggers thanking their devs.

  3. Thanks so much for the support =D

  4. Great initiative! I can only agree with you 100% here! All these people deserve a big thanks!

    • @Ryan @Lester @Jeremy @Flick – Hey guys! thanks for taking time to leave your valuable comments. Really appreciate it :) I hope that other bloggers will also do the same. Not only this will help in spreading the name of the developers, it will also motivate them to do more and more for the community.

  5. Mayank, great post! =)
I’d like to encourage people to add names that haven’t been mentioned here.
It’s a vast army of WordPress plugin/theme writers, but the other good thing about it is that even the number of the great ones is still not a small number. Anyway, here’s one that’s made a paradigm shift for me in the past couple of months – Hybrid theme by Justin Tadlock and pretty much all of his plugins [yeah, I mean that] and an extra shout to the fast support provided in the Hybrid theme forums.
    Justin Tadlock, rock on!

  6. cool post ) word press it is best cms.
