WordPress as a CMS is simply wonderful and it can also be converted as an e-commerce portal and can help you in showcasing to selling of the products without much efforts. Well, it’s really isn’t that easy as simple blogging because you are taking it the next level, however it’s relatively far simpler than other available tools on the internet.

1. WP e-Commerce is an excellent plugin which converts your blog into a complete shopping cart. At the moment the main plugin page isn’t working. We hope to see that page up soon as now there are various paid options available too.

2. YAK for WordPress is another free and simple shopping cart plugin which allows you to run wordpress as a shopping cart. There is a whole long procedure of setting up the plugin and how to configure it, to ensure that you can display the products and receive payments through cheque, deposit, credit card form or through paypal.

3. eShop : This is WordPress 2.5 and above compatible shopping cart, which is actively developed at the moment and has got some of the most wonderful options. It’s one of my first suggestions to any one, who wants to use WordPress as a shopping cart too.

Well, the above mentioned plugins are good enough when it comes to setting up the shopping cart, however there are several things for which you may not need a e-commerce solution. Here are some of them which have nothing to do as far as e-Commerce sites are concerned but are worth a mention -

1. WP BankRoll : This is a free/premium plugin, which allows you to earn money by allowing you to sell reviews on your blog. This plugin integrates with PayPal and if installed you get the ability to sell the reviews and also even lets you configure things in a way that an advertiser can write the post himself. Ah! that’s a neat thing, isn’t it ?

2. EasyPayPal : If you want to charge for your content, then you can do that with the help of this plugin. It also lets you help in creating various other type of payment pages which completely depends on your need. Without mentioning this plugin, this post would have been incomplete.

3. Zencart & WordPress integration : This plugin is not a shopping cart however, it integrates wonderful and open source shopping cart software i.e. ZenCart with WordPress.

I hope that you find all these plugin not only useful but money making too! If you happen to be a plugin developer or if you know about some other e-Commerce tools for WordPress then do let us know and we’ll update the list.

  1. Hi Guys. Thanks for the post about WP e-Commerce.

I just checked our e-Commerce Home page and it works from this end (New Zealand). Perhaps our host was being temporarily naughty – unusual though because Slicehost have been such a good service provider.

This post is timely. Today is Sat 30th Aug. Our plan is to launch either 3.6.8 RC1 or 3.6.8 next week. All I can commit to is before the 5th of September.

This next release is all about improved UI, bug fixing, and improving our online resources. So the forums have been improved, we have a documentation project underway, and we are setting up infrastructure to allow people to contribute to the project.

So by all means please come over to our site and grab our plugin and get to know us :)
